Who can volunteer?
Anyone who loves White Rock Lake is welcome to volunteer with For the Love of the Lake!

Is there an age requirement?
Volunteers of any age are welcome. Young people should have appropriate adult supervision. (There are probably some old people who need it too, but that’s another story!) :)

When is your office open?
We are always open on Saturday mornings between 8 am and noon. See Contact Us for more information

Can I get hours for court-ordered community service or for school credit?
Yes and Yes

What, where and when, are second Saturday shoreline spruce ups?
Sign up for the Second Saturday Shoreline Spruce-Ups is at our office at Casa Linda Plaza, starting at 8 am on the Second Saturday of each month. For more information, see: What is Shoreline Spruce Up

Are there things to do with FTLOTL besides picking up litter?
Absolutely! From helping with events, to workerbee projects at the park, to grant writing and fundraising, to assisting in the office, we have many ways to help White Rock Lake. Check out our Volunteer Form for some ideas of things that you might do to get involved.

What if I want to talk to a real person sometime other than Saturday mornings?
Just leave a message on the 24-hour Lakeline voicemail. A volunteer will get back with you within a couple of days. Maybe even right away if it works out right!

How long has For the Love of the Lake been around?
FTLOTL began as a small seedling of an idea at the Park Department’s TrashBash in September, 1995. We’ve grown from a handful of people who "just wanted to do a little something to help" to a small army of lake lovers (over 18,000 have pitched in since we began!) who enthusiastically steward White Rock Lake Park.
